Experience wild open vistas, abundant wildlife and pristine wilderness. This popular, classic style safari featuring renowned game parks with excellent game viewing combines lodges and luxurious tented camps. Starting with a unique tree hotel experience, drive north to Shaba (3 adjoining reserves, Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs), home to wildlife species rarely found elsewhere, including Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk gazelle, oryx, reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park then end the safari in the legendary Masai Mara that supports an enormous amount of plains game and their predators, creating a wildlife spectacle unrivalled anywhere in the world.

 

DAY 1 NAIROBI

Upon arrival Nairobi you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. Rest of the day at leisure.  SOUTHERN SUN MAYFAIR or similar.

 

DAY 2 SAMBURU

Drive through banana, coffee and tea plantations on into to Kenya’s rugged north-eastern region. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive to search for animals rarely found elsewhere Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and also elephant and other wildlife. BLD

DAY 3 SAMBURU

Enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives to explore this semi-arid wilderness and photograph its wildlife. BLD,

DAY 4 TREE HOTEL

Drive south towards Mt Kenya where your tree hotel offers overnight game viewing, to watch wildlife drinking at the floodlit waterhole. BLD

DAY 5 LAKE NAKURU

Drive via Nyahururu Falls down the eastern escarpment of the magnificent Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park best known for its flamingos. It is also home to many animals including waterbuck, leopards and Rothschild giraffe and is a sanctuary for black rhinos. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. BLD

DAY 6 MASAI MARA

After breakfast traverse the Rift Valley and ascend its western rim into the Masai land. Red-clad, with spear Masai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife. You find the Masai giraffe in this park. Take an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara National Park, famous for the wildebeest and zebra migration and its abundance of wildlife. BLD

DAY 7 MASAI MARA

Morning and afternoon game drives offer superb photographic opportunities in this spectacular game reserve. Due to its permanent water supply, the Masai Mara has a year round resident population of plains game. The “big five” – elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino are quite common. OPTIONAL EXTRA: an early morning balloon excursion to experience the Mara from panoramic a birds-eye view, with a champagne breakfast prepared on landing BLD

DAY 8 NAIROBI

Depart by road for Nairobi where safari services end. B
